Commercial Concrete Estimator

Job Summary

The Commercial Concrete Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and scope analysis for commercial concrete construction projects. This role involves reviewing project specifications, conducting site assessments, collaborating with clients and subcontractors, and developing detailed bids that reflect labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Seek bid documents and maintain contact with prospective client representatives.
  • Review proposals, specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine the scope of work and develop quantity take-offs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, and GCs
  • Perform site visits to accurately determine work conditions and needs.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from electronic or hard-copy plans.
  • Reach out and coordinate subcontract trades.
  • Develop conceptual, budgetary and hard-bid estimates utilizing
  • Present and discuss estimates for final pricing decisions with upper management.
  • Prepare proposals and bid packages.
  • Revise bids as requested by clients.
  • Follow up on submitted proposals and assist during contract negotiations and award process.
  • Develop schedules and phasing plans.
  • Update/enhance bidding database.
  • Maintain bid log and consult internally as needed.
  • Quantify cost impact of ongoing project changes and assist in developing change orders.
  • Support construction operations and project management when warranted.
  • Incorporate safety in the means and methods of decision making during the estimating phase.
  • Fully support and follow all Safety policies, procedures, and practices
  • Other duties assigned as necessary

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience estimating commercial concrete projects
  • Must possess the knowledge and field experience associated with cast in place concrete construction, concrete footings, and foundations and site work.
  • Knowledge of related structural products including form material/rebar.
  • Ability to assemble the scope of work with required information including inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications.
  • Knowledge of terminology customarily used in construction and knowledge of the use of computer and estimating software packages. 
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • B2W Estimate software experience preferred
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and Acceptable MVR
  • Must be able to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail
  • Self-starter, result-oriented individual with sufficient interpersonal skills to fit within company culture and become a valuable team member.
